...northern exposure...

...a very early start, well only 30 minutes earlier than usual, on friday saw Rob and I, speeding is a fair word, down the A50/M1 to EMA to catch our 7am flight to glasgow. a minor glitch at check-in as Rob didn't have any photo ID, then i sparked off a security alert with my mobile phone - oops!...

...8am and we are landing in a very grey, wet Scotland, happily to be met by Graham, who whisked us off to his flat in the west end, with a fantastic view over the city, for a lovely cup of tea...

...few hours later and we head into the city, to check out an outdoor shop so Graham can spend some vouchers he got for his birthday. there was a promise of some snowboarding gear, which i didn't see, but was satisfied with checking out the North Face coats i can't afford...

...next stop "bike porn" for Rob...

...then i rename one of Glasgow most famous streets, it's now Sauciehall Street, my numptyness came about from it being spelt wrong at work (how exciting i knew there was an M&S on that street!)...

...12:30pm and it's time for food and our first beer, the big blue in the west end. huge, bigger-than-the-plate pizza and a hoegaarden - yum...

...a bit later and we head to Oblomov's, not the same as it used to be apparently, but still pretty cool...

...back to the city, and a beer-fueled Rob is determined to spend money...clothes, buddy-jesus, housey stuff, £220 boots, you name it...

...Graham, an empty-handed Rob and I stop into yet another pub for a beer before Sarah finishes work and joins us...

...several beers/vodkas/ciders later the girls and boys part company to head their merry way, with sarah and i heading to a very busy townie type place for one, then on to the australia bar...where else! what joy was to be had, i had a VB, the band played toploader, then the DJ went on to play kylie, s club and five...happy were we as we headed to BK for a feed...

...next morning we awoke to the bad news that sarah's folks shed had been broken into that night. Kilwinning had been the murder capital of scotland until recently, and according to Graham is full of inbreds...anyway...

...sarah and i drag ourselves into Glasgow around 6ish with Shazza, who came out to NZ when we were there, who is off to meet her friends who've been in the city all day. it's about a 40 minutes train ride from her house, and what a surprise it bloomi' raining again by the time we get there. so we duck into a groovy bar called Underworld right next to the station...drunk blokes falling over, hugging each other on the floor...all quite normal...

...sensible us decide to get some decent fodder for a change, so after about 20 minutes of indecision, wandering around, we head up some dodgy looking stairs next to an even dodgier lookin club call Moon, to a Cantonese restaurant. turn out to be really nice, and posh old us even tucked in a bottle of wine...

...then we waddled off to Bar Soba, to meet up with Rob and Graham...had my first, and last long vodka (it's a scottish thing i think) it's bitters, lemonade, lime and errr, vodka...too much lime cordial though...were captivated by the japanese films being shown on the big screens in there, had no idea what was going on...but will find out soon as Rob's now bought the DVD...

...sensible sarah and i were catching the last train home, so had to leave the fun just after 11pm, guess what? raining again, couldn't stay awake on the train, despite some pissed birds singing two lines of a song every couple of minutes...

...sunday, already :o( we headed to the Clairmont, hotel/pub/club in Kilwinning for a yummy roast dinner, then back off to glasgow, to meet the lads. back to grahams for a hot chocolate with wee marshmallows :o) and to check out Robs purchases of the day...no boots i was pleased to find ;o)

raining, getting dark so we jump in the car to check out the huge brass dinosaur at the university and for a quick drink at Air Organic (getting a bit tatty) before dropping sarah at the station (boo hoo) and us at the airport...

...and here begins another tale completely...

...but i'll make it short...

...plane delayed by an hour, plane diverted to Edinburgh, we sit on plane for another hour or so, it's now about 11pm and we haven't eaten since about 2pm...grumble...finally leave, and arrive back at EMA 12:05am...

...oh yeah, and rob and i have now fallen out...as i'm a nagging moose...who won't speak...and he's a flid...
