...xena comes to lesta...

...friday 6:45pm and i'm waiting at lesta train station, with a huge, stupid grin on my face. sarah, my mate from scotland, whom i met in bangkok and ended up travelling with in NZ for the year, was due to arrive anytime to stay for the weekend...

...a quick vodka and we headed to the orange tree to meet up with als, rob, paul, craig and ale. several beers, cocktails and shooters later, we amble across town to laguna for a curry. my plan was to show sarah all the hotspots of lesta in one weekend, but decided i didn't know any...

...next day we txt gemma in NZ to tell her to get her butt out of the bar and up to her poota so we can chat on messenger, what a surprise she was in the bar. head into town to meet up with jema and rob for lunch in the orange tree, before they give the new walkers stadium a whirl...

...listen to the match (yey) on the radio, while transporting food from jo's house to G2 for her party that night and trying to give jo directions from the train station to town...

...just enough time to drink a bottle of white cloud(present from sarah, i gave her some irn-bru) before we have to make an appearance at G2. my mate ali lemmon was there, who i visited (with her month old sproglet, jack) just before i left travelling. she had photos, and he has the most fantastic grin i've seen, aww...

...10:30pm and the troops decide to leave the pub, as it is pants, and head to the fc (yey, but i know sarah'll hate it). strange things always happen when i'm with sarah, and as soon as we walked to the bar, "ginga jamie oliver" told me i was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, say no more...

...i had a pleasant night, few beers, lots of vodka, chatting to some old mates (saw pete wye, he's married now - gulp). sarah wasn't enjoying herself so much (they don't tend to play s club or kylie) but she perked up a bit when i went and chatted up a mate of ray's from manchester called leon for her, they seemed to disappear pretty quick ;o) it was 2pm before we knew it and time to wend our way home, but not before i stepped out into the street and some bloke comes up to me telling me i've got fantastic ankles!!! maybe i should wear my skirt more often...

...sunday morning = wooly head...

...sunday afternoon = sarah leaving :o(

tent life...

...a week last saturday saw me, sam, craigy, rob and paul leaving the lesta and heading southwest for some camping activity in cornwall where lee mullen is stationed for the summer, being a master henna tattooist...

...we were staying in "lee's field" in trevear, on arrival we promptly put up our tents and headed down to the pub, a good start me thinks. night ended with us having a fire on the beach, few more beers and leaving station comatose in the car despite the the loud music blasting out next to his ear...

...cracking weather the next day so we all headed to diggory's bay, a beautiful little beach, not too busy as you must perform great acts of bravery to get down the cliff onto it...

...spending our time catching the rays, paddling and playing with dennis (err the dog)...

...ooer is it a bit cold lads?...

...perhaps you should follow craig's lead and stay out of the water...

...bit of wood thievery on the way home and we have another cracking night by the fire at the campsite. although for some reason i decide to run around the fields with craig, in the fog at 4 in the morning as i'm not tired or just a bit drunk...

...back down to diggory's the next day armed with disposable barbies and food a plenty. sam and i take our togs this time and head straight for the sea, could be described as cold but you get used to it pretty fast. beautiful day, boys get a bit more sunburned, rob finally attempts some body boarding despite the lack of swell and probably wees in his wetsuit again...

...who's that guy?...

...campfire and beer again? oh yes...

...tourist time, so on tuesday we head up to tintagel. find a toy shop in the village selling an array of nazi toy soldiers, craig and paul buy postcards of cars (i just don't get it) then we go for a wander around king's arthurs castle. lot's of steps, and cliffs edges. some muppets doing cliff jumping and the rain appears so we toddle off back to the car. the alcohol is flowing when we get the campfire going, the vodka, tequila and whiskey finally appear and craig happily glugs half a litre of vodka after two pints of beer and a southern comfort. he was jolly to say the least, and all that were there (apart from craig) will have very fond memories of that night for some time, the dancing in the moonlight (sorry), it was torchlight really, is a particular favourite of mine...

...more touristy action on wednesday as we head to st austell to check out the eden project. everyone else in cornwall had the same idea as it started off as a bit of a grey day, two mile queues did not make us happy. finally getting in we were greeted by the site of two huge golf-ballesque greenhouses...

...quite an impressive site really. we decided to stuff our faces before we entered the dome, and were all mightily pleased with choices on the menu for bargain prices - yum yum. the big biome was very hot and full of people. the other one was much more pleasant and housed lots of cactii, fruit trees, herbs and chilli pepper plants, oh and the cactus that is used to make tequilla was a big draw for us, we "oohed and aahed" at the wonder of it. much more fun. all a bit tired so we headed home, a quick beer down the pub to say cheerio to lee et al, and we were back in our tents by closing time...

...thursday afternoon we arrive home all very tired, but having had a jolly good time, well i did anyway...
